Betsy DeVos, Leader in Educational Reform

Betsy DeVos interest in education started at an early age. It wasn’t until she had children of her own that she begin to notice how quality education wasn’t offered to ALL students. Mrs. DeVos goal was to offer quality education to everyone, despite their economical background and upbringing.

Betsy went to Calvin College and became involved in campus politics. For three decades she has ran numerous campaigns, political action committees, and organizations. She served six years as a chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. She is married to Dick DeVos, an entrepreneur and a community activist.

Betsy DeVos biggest success is Florida. Florida has implemented a tax credit scholarship program. The program is constantly evolving and expanding, now enrolling over 50,000 students. This program allows the families to decide where they want their child to go to school. Louisiana and Indiana has made advances since they passed the program and have the potential to serve over one million students.

For almost two decades, Mrs. DeVos was an in-school mentor for children at risk in the Michigan Public Schools. From that point on, she stated that this changed how she viewed education in its entirety. Betsy DeVos was nominated by President Trump and together they are working side by side to create equality in education for all students. She wants to return control to locals and families so they will have choices in their children’s education.

Her husband, Dick DeVos, attended a charter school and through his love for flying and education, he decided to open a charter school, West Michigan Aviation Academy. This gives students hands on training in aviation. The school holds high academic standards to better prepare the students for the real world and careers in aviation. This school focuses more on mathematics and science since both are related to aviation.

Betsy DeVos time is carefully allotted out between local emphases that range to national emphasis in educational choice. She and her husband Dick DeVos manage their time and their staff’s time so that they always comply with campaign finance laws and IRS regulations. George Soros is a great supporter of the American liberal and American progressive political causes. In 2004, the billionaire spent $ 27 million for the defeat of President George Bush.
