James Dondero’s $1 Million Grant Towards The Family Place’s Campaign

The co-founder and president of Highland capital Management, L.P., James Dondero, announced that the firm had offered a $1 million challenge grant. He added that this money would be channeled towards The Family Place’s Legacy Campaign.

The Dallas- based organization needs to raise the remaining amount of $2.8 million. The Family Place zeroes in on supporting victims of domestic violence. The organization launched the $16.5 million capital campaign to support the construction of a new counseling center at Dallas called Ann Moody.

Dondero’s grant will be administered through the philanthropic subsidiary of Highland Capital, Highland Capital Foundation, Inc. The entity would match 50% of any money given towards the cause between October 4th and April 4, 2017.

James Dondero applauded The Family Place for their professionalism in handling the charity project.  The new counseling center will serve over 2,000 victims each year. It has 13 emergency shelter bedrooms, call center, medical clinic and several counseling rooms both private and public. The facility will also house other related projects.

About James Dondero

James Dondero has extensive knowledge in credit and equity markets. He has specialized on high-yield and distressed investing. James has served the industry for over 30 years. During this period, he has gained knowledge that has helped him to undertake Highland Capital Management’s operations successfully.

He co-founded Highland Capital in 1993. Since then, the company has been a leader in different fronts, including development of Collateralized Loan Obligation. The company offers innovative credit oriented solutions for both retail and institutional investors globally.

Dondero serves as the Chairman of Cornerstone Healthcare, Nexbank, and CCS Medical. He is an active member of the boards of MGM Studios and American Banknote. James has been involved in various charities. He is particularly involved in initiatives geared towards education, public policy and veterans’ affair.

His career started at Morgan Guaranty training program where he served as an analyst in 1984. The Certified Public Accountant enrolled at the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce.
